Connecticut Danburite

 Danburite was first discovered in the USA and was named after the city of Danbury, Connecticut, about 70 miles north of New York City. Danburite was discovered in 1839 by Charles Upham Shephard, an American mineralogist who was professor of natural history at Amherst College .
